Humanity seeks leadership. Leadership arises from interactions between people –not from a physical building or from programs.
The challenge is to live nobly every day and to serve our communities well--together.
In 2013, three American colleagues –all experts in their field– joined me in Kathmandu to empower the blind and visually impaired of Nepal. Our efforts were made possible by, and knit together in spirit with, all Nepali Americans who seek to strengthen our motherland. Many Americans provided financial support as well. Hence, active motion coupled with a giving spirit makes leadership and heroism a reality. It was not the action of one person. Instead, it was a community of leaders, interacting and serving together.
Where do you see genuine leadership in your community at work today? What steps do we need to take to create the next generation of leaders?
