First Time Voter

by Buna Dahal

Citizenship bestows rights and responsibilities –we must exercise them or they will atrophy.

Voting is a fundamental right here in the U.S.

Though I have lived in the United States for 22 years, November 6, 2012, will remain memorable in my life because of my first time ever participating in the presidential election.

I dreamed of becoming a U.S. citizen so I could have a say in preserving power to people of the nation.

I am going to the poll, standing in line, making my choices, pulling the lever down so I can experience the real moment!

My U.S. Citizenship is a treasure to me. I earned the right to express my voice for guiding our leaders in understanding the will of the people and holding them accountable to us as well.
